I did a lot of research to try to find a good vacuum for pets that was also quiet and light. The Oreck vacuums are more expensive than some of the others with good reviews, but Oreck was THE ONLY vacuum that came with a lifetime warranty. That says a lot. Combine that with the plentiful service stores and four years of free annual maintenance/checks and I think this vacuum is worth the price tag. So far, it does great on the pet hair, is incredibly easy to use and nearly vacuums the floors all by itself! With the numerous stores, this is the one item I would recommend buying in person rather than online. We got the same price, had 8 extra bags thrown in for free, and were able to take it home immediately with a 30 day trial/money back guarantee. I do not plan to take mine back after 30 days!

This is the second unit I have purchased, the first I purchased for my mom as a gift a few years ago, she had always wanted an Oreck so I finally had the cash to get her one and she loves it!

Just some background and why I bought the Oreck-My in home central vac system finally busted (I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE EVER GET A CENTRAL VAC SYSTEM IN THEIR HOME IT IS GARBAGE AND THE TUBE MARKS UP THE CORNERS OF THE WALLS WHEN YOU USE IT!!! IT CAME WITH THE HOUSE I BOUGHT BUT WHENEVER YOU ARE LOOKING AT A HOME TO BUY DON’T LET THEM MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT THE CENTRAL VAC SYSTEM TO YOU!!!!)

Anyhow, I purchased the XL Gold Forever unit to replace my lame central vac system and wow I should have done this sooner! I knew how good it was but I was just trying to prolong the purchase. The vacuum cleaner is lightweight, basically glides along the carpet on its own, and uses HEPA bags, what more can you ask for? The lifetime warranty on the Forvever unit pretty much sold me, I paid a little more than the online price but I wanted to verify in person what I was getting as my wife purchased an Oreck vacuum at Costco (when we moved into the house with the central vac system) but the unit Costco sold was the cheaper version, I’ve noticed some of the reviews on Amazon complain about the loud hard to push unit, this is the unit Costco was selling so we returned it. Buyers need to do their homework and I highly recommend trying the vacuums out at the Oreck store so you know what you are buying. The salesman at the local Oreck store even educated me on a few things I didn’t know about the different Oreck vaccums, for example some of the Orecks have larger diameter upright tubes for better pick up, who knew?!

I love the Oreck XL Forever Gold and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good vacuum that doesn’t require muscle to push it over carpet, for anyone who has pets and allergies. Oreck Forever!
