A very good vacuum cleaner, being a best fit for those with hardwood floors and a minimum of carpeting,
I’ve understood canister vacuums, though I must admit that I never owned one before. Overall, I found this to be a very good vacuum, and I am quite pleased with it.
ASSEMBLY:
Assembly was a snap, quite literally, as all it took to get it running from out of the box was to attach the hose, wand and floor nozzle to the base.
OPERATION:
The vacuum works like a champ on hardwood and linoleum floors, picking up everything. My upright doesn’t do half the job this one does! On carpeting, I found that the lack of a spinning brush means that it doesn’t work quite as the upright.
On draperies and cushions the vacuum was excellent. The ability to adjust the suction power meant that I was able to get the power just right. It removed dog hair no problem. I was quite pleased.
The canister is lightweight and even my eight-year-old had no problem dragging it around the floor. Unlike some reviewers we had no problem with the unit turning over. The size of the bag for the vacuum (that’s right, this is not a bagless vacuum) is pretty small, so a lot of dirt will require more frequent bag changing than you might be used to.
CORD:
The cord on this baby is nice and long. I didn’t measure it, but I had no trouble using the vacuum throughout the main floor of my house. The automatic cord rewind is nice. Unfortunately, my eight-year-old violated the instructions, and pulled the cord out beyond the red line, and now it will rewind all but the last six or so inches. As a matter of fact, I cannot even force the cord the rest of the way in. That’s unfortunate.
CONCLUSION:
The BISSELL Opticlean Canister Vacuum is a very good vacuum cleaner, being a best fit for those with hardwood floors and a minimum of carpeting. It’s a great all-around vacuum, and handles pet fur very well indeed. It’s lightweight, easy to use and fantastically easy to assemble. I highly recommend it.
