Great job on the cat hair and fine dirt!, May 18, 2011

This vacuum does a great job of picking up massive amounts of cat hair and fine dirt on the carpet. I’ve had this vacuum for several months, and each time I vacuum I’m astonished at how much cat hair it picks up. (I’m surprised the cat has any hair left–it seeems to all be in the Bissell.) The only problem I had with it was due to operator error. I couldn’t make the roller brush work. Turns out there’s a clearly marked button on the handle. Duh! I don’t know when I’d ever operate it without the roller brush working, but if I ever choose to turn it off, there’s a button. The filtration system also works great. I’m allergic to cats (love them anyway) and am so glad the dander and hair is sucked up with no dust being stirred up or exhaled into the room.

This vacuum isn’t the most maneuverable thing and it is heavy, if that matters to you. But I don’t mind working with it a little to get around the furniture and I use the hose attachment for those days when I’m really motivated and want to vacuum tight against the wall. All in all, it works better than I do.

I bought this vacuum last October and have been very happy with the purchase. I’m a cat owner, and it does wonders snapping up all of the hair. I chose this specifically because of the HEPA filtration system, and it does not disappoint.

Build-wise, it’s very sturdy, and actually quite heavy. This doesn’t bother me at all, but should be something you consider if that is a concern. Everything fits together snugly and securely, with the exception of the brush attachment on the back, which falls off on me all the time, and the extending arm that never seems to stay locked in place. It handles beautifully, and will turn off the bottom roller when you lock it on the upright position. One of my favorite features is that it also has a separate button to turn the roller off. The little brush attachment is a nice bonus, and works relatively well, though it doesn’t pick up everything without doing several passes.

The only major detractor from this vacuum is how often the filters need to be cleaned to maintain suction. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it is better than having to replace them outright. It has a high quality feel, but without the high quality price. Despite the minor gripes I have with it, overall this is a pretty big bang for your buck.

Best vacuum for pile carpet under $600 Nothing works up the carpet like this one. Had a Savvy for 3 years and needed a new one(this one does not say Savvy but it is a Savvy). I tried the Dyson what a joke could not even tell you had vacuumed . Buy these Hoover Savvy lines if you want your carpet well groomed. They will not last more than 3 years but you should get rid of the nasty things after that amount of time. And they only cost under $200.

I got this vacume cleaner for my wife and she is very happy with it. It does a very good job. She loves the lights that tell if the carpet is clean or dirty. The kids like it also. It makes them go a little slower and do a better job. Loved the original bag that came with it but the normal paper bags are good also.
