It’s unbelievable!,
I’ve never reviewed a vacuum cleaner before. In fact, I never review any products, but my husband and I have been laughing all evening. I bought this vacuum cleaner the other day, after our Oreck died. We needed a lightweight vacuum to keep upstairs only, and since the Eureka Powerline was also fairly small, it was perfect for us. My husband vacuumed first and the canister was full. The amazing thing was though… we had JUST vacuumed the day before. We have short haired 2 cats and 2 short haired dogs. I took the Eureka downstairs and cleaned the living room, and again, the canister was FULL. We emptied it and went over the living room again, and again it filled up. That’s when we realized how much dirt and pet hair our old vacuums had been missing! We’ve been cleaning with this like crazy ever since. The “power paw” attachment worked great on our couches, and it comes with a crevice tool that was really all we needed.
I know I sound like an infomercial, but I’m so impressed with this vacuum. We got a great deal on it and its better than any vacuum we’ve owned before.

Excellent value with a few shortcomings,
This Eureka vacuum does a great job and is quite powerful. I chose it for three features: cyclonic action, washable HEPA filter and bagless, bottom-dumping dust cup (push a button while holding over a trash can and everything falls neatly into the garbage without having to mess with it.) Having a washable filter can save quite a bit of money over the life of the vacuum (some lower cost Bissels and Dust Devils require a $15 to $20 filter every few months!) The adjustable carpet height is quite useful, and the vacuum does a thorough job on hard floors as well.
Here are a couple of things that could be better. First, there is no switch to turn off the roller brush, so it is always turning (unless you shut off power.) That means if you run over a throw rug or a cord and it gets eaten up by the roller brush, you need to immediately shut the unit off, because otherwise it will heat up the belt that drives the brush, and destroy it if you wait too long. The cord winds up over the hose and is a bit awkward, although that is a very minor complaint, since it does the job. The hose, by design, is pretty springy, so it is hard to use it at full extension without feeling that you’re going to tug the entire vacuum over (this is generally true of this style of upright cleaner.) Compared to some of the cheaper vacuums, however, the hose was more flexible. About my only other complaint is that the instructions for assembly were a bit obtuse, and no mention was provided of the exact routing of the hose. You can pretty much figure it out by looking at all the illustrations, but it would have been nice if the instructions were padded out a bit more.
Overall, very well built, and very effective at cleaning. Mine came with a power “claw” attachment that is great for carpeted stairs and furniture. All accessories fit right on the unit, so there’s no hunting around for the bits and pieces. Eureka is owned by Electrolux, so there’s a great deal of experience behind this design.
