As good as it gets.,
This vacuum and their entire line are workhorses that do the job they were designed to do, vacuum carpeted floors very well.
The motor is very powerful creating enough suction to raise your carpet off of the floor; the Vibra-groomer II ball bearing brush roll will cause sand to bounce on top of the carpet so machine can pick it up, this was my main option when I sought to replace my old Sanitaire.
This is my second Sanitaire in the last 25 years, the first Sanitaire is why I bought the second, I do have an old canister for stairs and other uses but for flat surfaces this is as good as I have ever seen or used.
I would get a vacuum with the paper bags as they are easy to change without the mess, the bags & belts are easy to change and not expensive.
This is not heavy and it can be easy to push or pretty hard depending upon how low you set the vacuum and your carpet type, set it to meet your needs.
I cringe when I see the contraptions offered in the stores, they look like a design that came out of a committee the Sanitaire uprights were designed for one thing and do it well.

I have had this vacuum for over 10 years now. As the writer stated you will see it in hotels and commercial use. We used it in college as the dorms provided it. This machine has not broken in 10 years. I replaced the fan (very inexpensive repair) and the belt for the roller which you do yourself. That is it. Those repairs are maybe $30 or less. As the writer stated it beats the fancy ones hands down and is very durable. I tested it in a vacuum store next to all the other ones. The only one that beat it was a Royal at over 1k in price. It also wasn’t by much.
