    I just bought one of these locally tonight and when I assembled it the handle would not stay up as it should- the weight of the hose or even the cord would bring it down. I took off the 6 screws to access the belt and beater- everything looked fine so I put the cover back on. No improvement- the handle would still drop down. Well, I used it some more and guess what- the handle now stays in place. (The manual says that you may have to step on the front of the vacuum to be able to lower the handle which lead me to believe that there had been something wrong.)

    I already have a good vacuum but it is such a hassle to drag out that I was looking for something light and quick. One advantage not already mentioned: if you need to check to see if something important got sucked up (my wedding ring is gone!) you can do that without having to tear open a vacuum bag. Another reason for me not to drag out the old battleship…

    $30- you could spend that much just on a Dustbuster, which never seems to be charged when you need to use it.
