Eureka 3271 AVZ,
A few pros and cons about the 3271 AVZ, which I find to be a handy and effective upright vacuum cleaner:
Pros:
+ Does what it is supposed to do, pick up hair and grit and other things on your floor.
+ Effective edge cleaning
+ Nifty and useful attachments
+ Very affordable (when priced ~$80)
+ Not overly noisy
+ Does not smell/blow dust around when operating
+ Easy to empty canister for a quick cleaning
Cons:
+ At 19 pounds, not the lightest upright
+ No lighting on the unit (you don’t realize how helpful a light can be)
+ The attached flexi-hose is not 100% flexible as a portion of it is threaded through the unit losing several inches of useful stretch when using attachments
+ The filters get horribly dirty and cleaning them gets unpleasant and can be time consuming
I read that some Eurekas’ HEPA vent in front of the unit blow the exhaust air right in your cleaning path, an absurd condition considering you are tilting the upright portion of the unit back while you use it and the vent therefore points up and away. While this unit does have the exhaust in front I don’t see it impacting cleaning at all, you can’t even feel any air current in front of the unit while you use it. I wish it were a pound or two lighter and a small lamp included, also initial assembly was tedious. Recommended.

I really love this vacuum! We have a white & gray cat (who sheds ALOT) so we have to vacuum our black carpet constantly. This vacuum sucks up all of the cat hair every time! We also have black slipcovers on our couches, which are like cat hair magnets. But the pet pal attachment sucks up all of the hair like a charm! I wish the hose were a bit longer, but thats about it

I just bought this vacuum last night, so I don’t know how well it stands up to the test of time yet. It did require assembly, but the directions were straightforward and easy to read (with pictures) and all that was required was a screwdriver.
The suction on this vacuum is great! The power paw attachment worked wonderfully for my stairs, and sucked up more than I thought could possibly be on there. This vacuum will amaze you with how much it gets up, I know that with the small area I did there was such a huge amount of dirt and pet hair I was blown away! It is a high traffic area, and I am glad that I will be able to easily get all of the pet hair and dander up for when my friends with allergies visit.
